Launch Manager

Service Delivery
team

Montreal, QC

Full time

Transit agencies are the unsung heroes of cities. And weโ€™re honoured to be their trusted sidekick. With over 180 transit agency partners and a circus tent full of agency products (like automatic detour detection, enhanced transit ETAs, and rider surveys), we help transit agencies improve the experience for millions of riders who use our app.

But with so many partners, thereโ€™s also so many balls in the air. The time has come for us to hire a circusmaster to help us keep those balls, axes, and flaming torches airborne โ€” without missing a beat, deadline, or setting the tightropes ablaze.

As our Launch Manager, your north star will be โ€œtime to launchโ€ and youโ€™ll make sure no matter how complex those projects get, that our team gets better (and faster!) at launching them. Youโ€™ll keep a schedule of forthcoming partner projects, and collaborate across internal and external teams to make sure each launch goes off without a lurch.

Youโ€™ll be our Keeper of In-App Deploymentsโ„ข โ€” building audience cohorts (so the right riders get the message) and collaborating with our biz and marketing teams (so the message those riders get is right), and work with our partner agency on complex launches and integrations.

From automated detour detection and new Rate-My-Ride question rollouts, to previewing bus network changes, to products we havenโ€™t yet built (and infinite combinations thereof). Youโ€™ll help onboard new agency partners to Transit, and make sure they know all the ins and outs of working with us, whereupon youโ€™ll hand them off to Partner Success for long-term relationship management.

If youโ€™re the sort of person whoโ€™s punctual to a fault, who colour-coordinates their agenda, who is versed in the gospel of project management, and has dreams of serving their city โ€” and hundreds of others! โ€” by being the O Captain! My Captain! of transit agencies, go ahead and pull the yellow cord.

Hereโ€™s what weโ€™re looking for on our end:

๐Ÿ“ Responsibilities

  • Project Ownership: own and manage complex agency onboarding and software set-up across multiple phases, and make sure those agency partners are set up for success once projects go live

  • Internal and External Stakeholder Communication: make sure agency partners and relevant Transit teams are kept in the loop with regular project status updates. Youโ€™ll own implementation timelines, and ensure client issues are acknowledged and resolved right on schedule

  • Customer Insight and Advocacy: identify customer objectives, requirements, and pain points. Advocate for customers within Transit, and make product recommendations

  • Cross-team Collaboration: youโ€™ll work closely with our Partnerships and software development teams to ensure all pre-sale commitments are met. Youโ€™ll also work closely with Partner Success, post-launch, to transition agency relationship and goals

  • Change Management: use your flair for creative problem solving to help our agency champions tackle roadblocks within their agencies (and within Transit) in order to speed up the launch of Transit products

  • Relationship Management: build strong relationships within transit agencies that span multiple teams, and win those agenciesโ€™ buy-in on Transitโ€™s suite of products

  • Training and Support: Train client staff and make sure theyโ€™re getting the most value out of new products by sharing best practices (and thereby, gaining further agency buy-in)

โœ… Requirements

  • 4-5+ years in a client-facing role like consulting, implementation, customer success, or at a transit agency

  • Detail-oriented, detail-obsessed, undaunted by the devils in theโ€ฆ okay, you get the point

  • Previous experience leading large high-value ($500k+) projects, coordinating work across multiple teams and working with project management tools such as Asana, Monday, JIRA to track work

  • Fluency in both French and English (95% of our transit agency partners are outside of Quebec)

  • This position is located in Montreal. We strongly prefer candidates currently in Montreal or who are willing to relocate to the bagel capital of the world

  • Creative thinker who can bring a Tetris-solverโ€™s attitude to the team

๐Ÿ’ฏ Would be nice if

  • Strong opinions about project management best practices (โ€œleanโ€ is more than just how you order your smoked meat sandwiches)

  • Rudimentary technical chops (you know what GitHub is, and can push quick changes to simple strings and other boilerplate code)

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment; transit tech preferred

  • You have experience working in the public sector or with government partners. (You donโ€™t need to have worked at a transit agency, but it would be a giant plus.)

Donโ€™t feel like all the requirements apply to you but you still think youโ€™d be a great fit for Transit? Donโ€™t hesitate to apply!

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ป A note on diversity

Public transit is used by overwhelmingly more women and people of colour than other modes of transportation. We try to make sure the diversity of our users is reflected in the team that serves them. Because when we include people of all races, genders, sexual orientations, ages, and identities โ€” we end up building a better app for everyone who uses Transit.

We encourage candidates of all ages, genders, origins and orientations to apply. If youโ€™d like to specify which pronouns you use, feel free to include that in your application email.

And if your lived experience has given you a unique perspective on all things transportation, mobility, accessibility, urbanism? Let us know, and weโ€™ll make sure your application gets the attention it merits.

๐Ÿ“ฌ How to apply

Send your resume to jobs+launch@transitapp.com along a quick summary of who you are and why youโ€™re interested in the role. We look forward to meeting you!

PS: When you apply, let us know how you heard about the position! Whispers, grapevines, middle-of-the-night Google searches? Weโ€™re dying to know.

PPS: Unfortunately, we don't accept in-person applications or singing telegrams. Make your application sing instead!
